A representative from Everest College in Bremerton will be here on Monday Sept 21st.  She will be available during lunch in the counseling/career center to visit with students who want to know more about Everest College.

For Juniors and Seniors:

Husky Days coming soon!   This event is designed for high school juniors, seniors and family members to learn about UW Tacoma’s degree options, curriculum, student life, financial aid and more. Tours of the UWT campus and on-campus housing are included.  Husky Days are scheduled on the following Saturdays:

*   December 5th *1:00 PM

*   Husky Huddle: Happens immediately following Husky Days. You can stay on campus and join current UW Tacoma students, faculty and staff to cheer on the UW football team, enjoy refreshments and have a great time. You may even see Hendrix the Husky there.

Taking place on Saturday, October 24th, this all-day open house is a great opportunity for students and their families to learn about Western’s academic programs and campus life. Events include faculty presentations, a campus fair, walking tours, and more. This fall, the Washington Scholarship Coalition will launch theWashBoard.org to make it easier for Washington students to efficiently find and apply for relevant scholarships. Free of cost for both students AND providers, theWashBoard.org matches scholarship seekers with scholarship providers.  Designed to be a one-stop-site, theWashBoard.org is a free, student-centered, online clearinghouse for Washington students seeking college scholarships. This user-friendly site allows students to search and apply for verified scholarships that are specific to their academic interests, college or university, or other criteria. And it is advertising and spam-free.

Created in 1947, the Voice of Democracy (VOD) scholarship program is an audio-essay contest for high school students in grades 9-12 that annually provides more than $3 million in scholarships. The Better Business Bureau PROVIDES 2010 STUDENTS OF INTEGRITY SCHOLARSHIP Apply for $1,000 scholarship – Deadline is Dec. 1, 2009

BBB Foundation offers three Students of Integrity Scholarships in conjunction with the Business of the Year Torch Awards. Scholarships will be awarded to one student in each state: Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington. The scholarships are designed to support students who recognize the importance of ethical and responsible marketplace practices.

Scholarships:

The Christian Connector provides a FREE Christian college information service as well as a $2,500  Christian College scholarship drawing.  Students can simply log onto www.christianconnector.com to request information and be entered in the scholarship drawing.

The S. W. Preston Scholarship, offered by Preston Premium Wines and Preston Vineyards through the Washington Wine Industry Foundation, is offering an annual $3,000 scholarship.  This is a rotating scholarship awarded one year to a student enrolled or planning to enroll in the viticulture program at a Washington college or university; and the subsequent year to a student enrolled or planning to enroll in the enology program at a Washington college or university.  More information and applications available in the counseling office.  Applications must be postmarked by November 30th.

Whitworth University has several academic scholarships available for new 2009-2010 undergraduate students, ranging from $7,000 to $14,000 per year.  These are renewable scholarship, meaning you can get them renewed each year if you maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled full time at Whitworth.  Whitworth financial aid staff welcomes your questions and can provide explanations, counseling and advice at any time.  Counselors may be contacted by phone at 509-777-3215 or 800-533-4668 or by email at finaid@whitworth.edu

EIGHTH ANNUAL NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The National Commission for Cooperative Education, on behalf of the eight NCCE Partner Colleges and Universities, is pleased to announce and sponsor its Eighth Annual National Co-op Scholarship Program. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, the National Commission will award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each, for a total renewable value of $4,200,000. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner Colleges and Universities listed in this booklet.  For more information and to complete an application on-line visit:  www.co-op.edu The deadline for submitting scholarship application and essay is February 15, 2010.  Early submission is strongly encouraged.

Washington State Elks offers the 2009-2010 Vocational Grants There are 32 Grants from $900 to $1500 for qualified applicants.  This scholarship is for Washington state students who plan to pursue an eligible vocational/technical course of study.  More information in the Counseling office, your local Elks Lodge, or at www.waelks.net The applications are available October thru January and the final date for filing completed applications with the Lodge is February 26, 2010.

The Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers is offering The Walter J Clore Scholarship for Viticulture and Enology This scholarship may be used by a high school graduate who is enrolled or is planning to enroll in a college or university, OR a student already enrolled in areas of study pertaining to the wine industry.  Prefernce will be given to students who are residents of the State of Washington, but not limited to study at a Washington state college or university.  Selection is based upon academic merit, leadership abilities and interest in the study of enology and/or viticulture.  Applications are available in the counseling office.  www.wawgg.org Deadline is November 30, 2009.

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation is offering the John Farmer Scholarship for Viticulture and Enology This scholarship may be used by a high school graduate who is enrolled or is planning to enroll in a college or university, OR a student already enrolled in areas of study pertaining to the wine industry.  Selection basis will include academic merit. The Elks National Foundation Scholarships for Elks Families.   Legacy Award. Must be the child or Grandchild of an active Elks member, HS Senior, going to college and who exhibits the values of the Elks National Foundation:  Knowledge, Charity, Community and Integrity.  For more information and an application visit:  www.elks.org/enf/scholars Deadline is mid January.

The Elks National Foundation:  Most Valuable Student Scholarship The ENF awards $2.296 million annually in college scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide.   Ranging from $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university  The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2010 competition. Eligibility:

  • Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • College students are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; resident alien status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.  All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.   2010 Most Valuable Student Scholarship applications must be submitted to the Lodge nearest the applicant’s permanent address by November 2, 2009.  Applications are available in the counseling office.
